A Texas native, Sutton graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Visual Communications and Dramatic Writing. With early roots in cinematography and editing, Sutton began pursuing his passion for writing and directing while in college. During his time at Texas Tech, he wrote and directed his first short film, THE KNOCKOUT, followed by his first feature length documentary, 59TH STREET LIGHTS.
Upon graduating from Texas Tech, Sutton moved to Los Angeles where he was quick to begin directing a wide variety of commercial spots for companies based in Los Angeles, Texas, Washington DC, as well as international companies in India, Kenya, Indonesia and Mexico City. Sutton also began production on a crime series he wrote and directed with a partner titled, THE WRONG GUYS FOR THE JOB. The series ultimately went on to win him an “Outstanding Directing” award at the LA Web Festival, along with being an official selection in a wide range of festivals such as, Hollyweb Festival, Los Angeles Comedy Festival, Raindance Web Festival, Melbourne Web Series Festival, ATL Web Festival, The Independent Quarterly Film Festival.
Sutton continues to be productive, having written four feature films and three television pilots in the midst of his domestic and international commercial projects. Recently he wrote and directed the Sci-Fi short RIPPLE, a film based off a passion project by the same name and produced a feature film titled SURVIVING CONFESSION, expected to be released sometime next year.
Earlier this year, Sutton acquired the rights to the novel, LIFE IN THE FISH BOWL, and is currently adapting the book into a feature screenplay.
